What Does It Really Mean To Be Loyal In A Relationship?

When you make a compromise with your significant other, you want to be faithful to him or her in every way possible. But loyalty goes beyond fidelity. Loyalty includes being honest about your thoughts and feelings and being committed to your partner.

It means being true to yourself:

You can’t be loyal unless you’re honest with yourself first. When you’re disloyal with your partner, you’re just fooling yourself, and it doesn’t matter how good you are at denying it. You have to be transparent, honest, and loyal to yourself, to be truly loyal to your partner.

It means not doing something that you would have to hide from your partner:

Anything that makes you feel the need to hide it from your partner, or keep it private, is probably bad in some way. Loyalty means never having to hide anything, or lying to your partner.

It means sharing your thoughts and feelings:

Loyalty is about being honest with your partner. You can’t be loyal without sharing everything you feel and think with your partner.

It means never deceiving your partner, even with white lies:

If you think the little white lies you say are not a form of disloyalty, think again. Whether it’s how much you spent on an Xbox, how she looks in a dress, or be honest about your feelings … loyalty comes in many forms.

If means to be by your partner’s side in the good and bad moments:

You committed yourself to be with your partner, and this should include in sickness and health, in the good times and in the bad. Honor your vows and promised, it’s an important part of being loyal to your significant other.

Always remember to be the solid rock that your partner can always count on.

    Loyalty forms a connection:

If you are loyal in a relationship, it will continuously show your partner your dedication to them and therefore create a deeper emotional connection.

It also means being loyal to yourself:

Being loyal to yourself is the most important aspect here. Loyalty to your own self means being loyal to your beliefs, morals, needs, and responsibilities. You won’t give them up for anything—ever.
